Eleanor is quickly growing out of newborn clothing and moving into 0-3 months. Everything I think will be huge on her ends up fitting quite well, and it is both very exciting and very sad. Eleanor has entered the last three weeks of her steroid regimen, and her dose is weaned every Tuesday and Friday!
Eleanor is mildly in love with her unicorn toy (thank you, Lydia!). Her face lights up when she sees it and she will occasionally bat at it. All the other toys spark minimal interest. She has been seen playing with her pulse-ox and heart rate monitor wires. It’s too bad they don’t make toys like that!
She most definitely has big, beautiful, brown eyes. Her hair is growing like a weed; it's still a toss-up as to what color it will be. Some days it looks blonde, some days dark brown, some days it has a reddish tint to it. She still has two major bald spots from where her head was shaved to accommodate IVs.
She just went two days with no poops and was very upset about this (as anyone would be). She finally had a blowout this morning and needed new clothes and sheets. She seems to save her blowouts for Grandma to clean up. The reason behind the poop delays could be that she is FINALLY learning to breastfeed!
She’s very good at it and gets overexcited about milk, then gets really mad when she unlatches to smile. She now gets to eat naturally (when mom is there, obviously) before she is fed the difference through her NG tube. We have to weigh her before she eats and after, and the difference in grams is equivalent to the intake. Mom is not quite convinced these readings are accurate, however. Eleanor will start learning bottles within the next week!
Her home is getting all ready for her pending move-in date. Her nursery is finally all put together and clean, complete with curtains and a rug; dad picked up her air purifier yesterday, too! The rest of the house on the other hand…scary.
We still have a ways to go, but are feeling more confident that Eleanor will get to come home sooner rather than later! Our little tiny miracle, accepting all the challenges life throws her way and kicking butt!
Got to hold this little miracle named Eleanor last Sat. the 8th. What a thrill and a few tears shed as I looked at her. She was mainly sleeping. Sherry got to hold her also with tears shed too. She is an amazing bundle of joy. Love her to pieces. Much love from GG Rose.
ReplyDeleteThe first measurement should be in the morning before eating or taking any medications, and the second in the evening. Each time you measure, take two or three readings to make sure your results are accurate. Your doctor might recommend taking your blood pressure at the same times each day. Blood Pressure Monitor
